Laura Milke Garner is an award-winning producer, mentor and the founder of MILKE, the independent producing company she established in 2008.
With more than 27 years working across theatre, comedy and cabaret, Laura has produced, developed and toured work across Australia and internationally, from the Sydney Opera House and major Australian festivals to London’s West End and Off-Broadway in New York. Through MILKE, she has worked with hundreds of artists, helping take shows from their earliest ideas through to major stages and new international markets.
Producer development has also been a significant part of Laura’s work for more than a decade. She has created and delivered workshops, mentoring programs and professional development for emerging and established producers across Australia. She is the founder of The Producer Lab, MILKE’s dedicated platform for practical producer training, mentoring and industry development.
Laura is also Program Producer of Malthouse Comedy, curating Malthouse Theatre’s annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival program. Over the past five years, she has built the program into a major festival destination, bringing together some of the most exciting established and emerging comedy artists from Australia and around the world.
A long-time advocate for independent artists and producers, Laura has contributed to the sector through initiatives including the Moosehead Awards, Golden Gibbo Award and Adelaide Fringe Emerging Producer Award, alongside ongoing mentoring, industry development and advocacy
